All of the action takes place on Catfish Row in Charleston, SC and the story is pretty well known by now, but googling "Porgy and Bess" will get you a synopsis of the opera and an idea of who these characters are and what they add to the story of poor Bess and her unfortunate and crippled Porgy.

My only idea here is to present some more Gershwin music in a way that is easy to digest and understand.
