The songs found here were
either written wholly or in part by Duke Ellington, played by Duke Ellington,
or influenced by this great musician of yesteryear. The background music
is "East St. Louis Toodle-ooh," which we are told was Ellington's themesong
until about 1940. The format is MIDI, which means Musical Instrument Digital
Interface, which in turn means synthetic horns, pianos, bells, whistles,
and strings. For a further discussion of the Noteworthy interface, software
used to create these songs, see the page at this
link. Your browser should play midi songs; if it doesn't, then get
whatever plugin or software is required and try again to hear the music
on this site. There is available a Noteworthy plugin which allows the user
to view the words and music of the song as it plays, and there are other
means for downloading the .nwc extension files to view as they play on
a separate but free Noteworthy Player, abailable from the Noteworthy site
at this link.
It is hoped that you enjoy the music of this very talented man as much
as the providers of it have enjoyed the job of bringing it to you.
